A Jeep cover?

HavIt has been quite the interesting week. One of the Pastors, at my Church, has an older

Jeep and he couldn’t find a back cover for it. So, he asked me to make one for him.

Crazy me, said “yes, I would love too.” Ugh!!! What is wrong with me? Ever since then,

approximately 3-4 months, I have been dreading creating this Jeep cover. This week,

I took the bull by the horns and made the cover. We decided to make it out of

trampoline material, the black stuff that you jump on. And to make it even more

interesting, I had to make it double thickness. That stuff is so stiff and scratchy too!

After 7-8 hours, it was completed!! Yeah! I hope I never see the thing again.

I am sad to say that I forgot to take a picture of it to show you all. My word of advice

to anyone out there, skip the Jeep cover-ha!!

This week also saw me complete a special quilt for a friend who is having her 2nd child.

She wanted a wallhanging that resembled a picture that she had.

So, she went to Staples and had it blown up.

Then, all I had to do was trace, cut and paste. It all sounds so simple, doesn’t it?

I tried to match the colors in the photo with fabric I had; I also used Steam A Seam.

There were a few bumps along the way (ie. glue stuck to the bottom of my iron)

but all went ok though.

I think it turned out ok. She liked it so that is all that matters.

Then, there was a cute baby quilt that I also managed to complete. Fabricland was

carrying them , the price was right, and I liked it. So, I bought it and even managed

to get it quilted.

I also managed to paint some more fabric as well. I really liked the process

this time and the fabric turned out ok as well.

Blues were the color that I used this time. I am really surprised by

how much fabric 1 teaspoon of paint can actually paint or cover.

Then, I tried yellows and oranges. Peobeo Setacolor paints were the

paints that I used this time.

Hello there,

Summer has really taken a bite into being creative. Nevertheless, I am managing to play a game called 4 pictures, 1 word. I love it!!

I think that I am on #384. Pretty sad, I know. Now, I have a challenge for you. What do these 4 pictures have in common?

Just to help you out a little, here is a hint.

Okay, I will tell you the answer.

Fabric painting. I know,that is 2 words. And the ironing board helped

with pressing the fabric after it was painted. The heat sets the colors.

I did manage to begin the lessons and the book by Cindy Walter.

Mind you , it was kind of boring but I did learn how fabric paint behaves when applied onto wet and dry fabric

or whether using thick or thin paint.

But I did perserve and am hoping to try some different techniques soon.

I also managed to buy a new ironing board, the one above. Isn’t it crazy how

different things we buy (ie. ironing board) can make us so excited?

What is something different that you have purchased that makes you happy?

And I did manage to quilt the Chevron baby quilt too.

White thread was used and I did 2 parallel lines in the blue section. In the white areas,

I did a vertical squiggle-technical term, I know. I thought that it turned out ok.

Hopefully, the new mom will like it as well.

It’s hot!

I am not sure about you but it is hot here. It makes for lots of swimming in the pool but not much sewing or quilting.

Oh well, I will try to endure as best as I can.

I did manage to get a top put together for some friends who just had a baby boy.

I thought that I would try out a new pattern, one that I have never made before.

Chevron was the one chosen because I thought it would be a quick and easy

pattern to under take at this time of the year. And I was not disappointed.

I used 5″ squares that I had bought online at Connecting Threads. I had 42

squares so it worked out well. And I had it cut and sewn together in a matter

of a couple of hours. Quick indeed. To be quite honest though, I don’t like the

layout that I chose. IF I had to do it again, I would put all the dark squares

together and all the light together, instead of spreading them all over the top.

All that is left to do, is the quilting. I will have to make time this week for that. And the binding needs to be

done as well but I don’t mind that at all.

Then there are the blocks that I showed you last week.

The other 36 are now being blocked and I am hoping to have that top all together by the end of the week.

I love it when projects that have been hanging around for a while get finished. That means I can start

something new-yeah!!

I am also hoping to get some fabric painting in this week. This is the book I will be using.

Fabric painting ideas and inspiration.

I want to try my hand at that and see what happens. I will take lots of

photos to show you what happened. Even the mistakes and ugly ones

will be shown. Eeek!! I hope I do an okay job, now I really have to try

my best and pay attention to what I am doing. Until next week,
