A Brand New Year

I am not sure about you but it is cold here.  And the schools have been closed for

2 days now.  The kids are loving it and I am liking it still too.  Hoping that school

will be in tomorrow so I can get back to quilting.  This may sound terrible but it

has been nice to have no deadlines and just putter around the house for  a while.

Here are some photos I took with my new camera that I got for Christmas.

Not quite sure what plant this is but it looks pretty cool in the

winter time.

Name of plant anyone?

I am glad that I don’t have to stay outdoors in these cold

temperatures.  Great weather for stitching though.

I am working on this quilt by Nancy Halverson.

I only have 3 blocks left to go.  I am hoping to have

the top completed by the end of this week.  Who knows when

the quilting will actually get done.

Here are some close ups of the individual blocks:

I know that some of the blocks are not finished totally.  Some

are missing buttons or stitching.  I am planning on adding those

embellishments when the quilting is all done.

Over the Holidays, I did manage to complete some Owl hats.

They were crocheted so it didn’t take that much time to complete.

The earflaps were made really long so that they could be

wrapped around the neck and used like a scarf.

The wool I used was really thick so that the hat was quick to crochet.

Due to its thickness and weight, I didn’t have to  line it with fleece for

added warmth.  Yeah!  Thick wool is really easy to use and works up

really quickly.

The pattern was found on the Ravelry.com website and the pattern was

free!  What more could you ask for?

Have a great week and stay warm.

Ruth
