Looking at my pictures and quilts from last week, this may be a short
post. I do hope you enjoy the pictures and thanks for checking out my blog.
Bernice made this quilt and was quite excited to pick it up and show
her friends. I can not imagine how long it took her to piece this quilt.
Because I finish so many peoples’ quilts, I do not get much time to
piece my own quilts, so I am beginning to appreciate even more
all the time and hard work that goes into making a quilt.
Bernice chose a cream polyester thread for the top and the backing.
“Flirtatious” is the name of overall design stitched onto the quilt.
Again, a solid colored backing always shows off the quilting beautifully.
Joann made this beauty. I was really impressed with how perfect the borders
were on this quilt.
This was a $10 Quilt at a local Quilt Shop, in the area, Country Concessions. They
have alot of bolts of fabric and all arranged by colors. It is always a treat to go
there and just look at the fabric ( I am dreaming when I say that).
Joann picked a light blue So Fine polyester thread for the top and the backing.
Stars were stitched all over the quilt; a design by Lisa Calle.
The backing is a beautiful deep blue color. I love it! When using a print for
the backing, it is more difficult to see the quilting. It all comes down to
personal preference.
Earlier in the year, I took an online class with Katie Pasquini Masopust.
Yes, that is a mouthful. She is quite the abstract artist and I love some of
her work. It really surprises me that I like this art type.
This is my attempt at my first abstract art piece. The picture
is a bit dark, so I apologize for that.
Here is a close up view of another area of the piece. Hopefully, I will
get it quilted up this week and bound. Maybe I will show you
the finished piece next week.
Have a great week and check out a Canadian site called
The Needle and Thread Network.
