Stitching Along….

I have been stitching along, trying to catch up with all the quilts waiting for me.

Here are several quilts that I completed  last week.

Evelyn’s Baby Quilt

Evelyn was really brave when she made these 2 baby quilts. The day that she dropped

off these  quilts, was the day that the baby arrived. I guess that the baby had plans of its own.

Evelyn wanted to try her hand at designing her own quilts using similar fabrics but in 2 totally

different quilt patterns. Good for you Evelyn. I love seeing people try new things and become

even more creative.

The backing

Evelyn chose a fun overall pattern called “Flirtatous.” It works well for this baby quilt and adds

some movement to the quilt blocks and top.

A light tan polyester thread was used for the top of the quilt and a bright yellow polyester

thread for the backing.

Baby Quilt #2

If you look at the previous picture, you can see some of the same fabrics used. Evelyn wanted

to use up the fabrics but create two totally different baby quilts. What a great idea! I am not

sure about you but I do get bored making the same pattern over and over. Nice to change it

up a bit. Well done Evelyn!

The backing

The same pattern was used for this quilt too. Why not? It looks great and is alot of fun.

The backing was a medium tan color so we matched the thread color to the quilt top and

backing.

Joan’s Quilt

Joan found this quilt kit in BC while she was visiting her daughter. There is an unique

quilt shop there that she loves and usually picks up a quilt kit. This was the latest one.

I used a monofilament thread to stitch around all the shapes. It saved alot of time that would

have been used for switching threads to match the color of the background fabrics.

All those interesting shapes would make a great modern quilt, in my mind anyways.

In the outside border, I stitched in leaves due to all the trees on the printed fabric. Feathers

would not have worked on this quilt top at all. Sometimes, the quilt tells you what it wants, you

just have to pay attention to all that is going on in the quilt: fabrics, prints in the fabrics, what

type of quilt it is, how it is going to be used and lots of other stuff.

The backing

The backing shows off the quilting nicely. I love the close up pictures because then you can see

how  lovely the fabrics really are.

The backing fabric, a nice light green color , although it doesn’t look green in this photo.

Have a great week and Happy  Belated Easter.
