Several weeks ago, local Guilds in the area put on their annual Rug, Quilt, and Craft Fair.

Other Guilds which are involved include the Embroidery Guild, the Teddy Bear Makers,

a Tatting Group and more. Please forgive me if I didn’t include your group.Let me

know and I can add it to the above list. There was a lot going on and alot to see.

Of course, I took lots of pictures of the quilts and here is a sample of some of them.

There will be more in the following few weeks so enjoy the  show.

I may comment on some of the pictures but not all, as there are about 30 or so in

this blog post alone. Enjoy!!

Canada 150th Quilt. There seems to be  some of these being finished from last

year. They are quilt stunning when you see red and white quilts up close and personal.

I love the colors of this quilt, which really surprises me. I usually love bright, bold

colors but the softness of these colors really speak to me.

Sew Kind of Wonderful sells this curved ruler and you can make so many interesting

shapes with it. I may have to dig it out and make one for myself.

I couldn’t pass up checking out the quilting on this one.

This wholecloth quilt is hand quilted!! Wow!

Because I don’t remember the names of all these quilts, I am making up the names

as I go. I ran through this room taking photos like a crazy person. I have a booth in the

Show and I have to stay there all weekend  so I quickly got some shots for you to see.

Jennifer and her daughter made this quilt. Jennifer is also a longarmer in Orilla

and is one talented lady.

You can see how cute this wallhanging really is and I think, it has been colored

with crayons or fabric markers.

I remember the name of this small wallhanging because it is mine. Nothing like a

deadline to get you to complete something. It took me a year to complete  the hand

embroidery. I thought that  bricks would help to unify the piece by showing that all

these windows belong to the same apartment building. To make this Canadian, I added a

Canadian flag in place of the American one.  This pre printed panel is still available at

Fabricland, in the clearance section.

 

I really like the baskets in the background.

As I was looking at this photo, I noticed that each square is a different color. Well done,

Nancy. She does beautiful hand work!

This piece reminds me of Elaine Quehl, a Canadian fiber artist. She is known for her

Hosta pieces. Whoever made this one, certainly nailed it as well.

Suzanne made this piece and I like it. She is also a longarmer in the area. She took a

class with Al Cote, another Canadian fiber artist living in Niagara Falls, Ont.If you ever

get the chance to take one of his classes, do so. He is so talented and alot of fun.

Color, color, and more color. I love color and it seems like it is a hot topic

right now when it comes to quilting.

This fabric reminds me of Kaffe Fasett. Whatever fabric that is being used, certainly

gives this giraffe lots of personality.

Again, the colors speak to  me. I love big and bold florals. This piece reminds me

of GEorgia O’Keefe’ work and style.

“Postcards From Muskoka ” is the name of this wallhanging. These are really cool and from what

people tell me, not that difficult to create. Once again, a local lady designed this pattern. Lots of

talent in this area of Ontario.

Christie made this Kathy McNeil wallhanging. She won 1st place for the Best

Wallhanging in the Quilt Show, with this piece.

I love all the hand work Christie did as well. Each pinecone is stitched individually.

And I love the stitching on these cat tails. All those French knots. What fun she must have

had making this one.

I really like the Northern Lights on this piece. What a great way to shake things up a bit?

Connie designed this wallhanging herself. Well done Connie! She love Angela Walters,

so it was easier for me to design the quilting with that in mind.

It was alot of fun working on this piece for Connie. Lots of swirls, ribbons, and straight lines.

There are even several words stitched into the piece as well. It seems like text is becoming

a part of what I am currently quilting.

In the title at the beginning of the post, I mentioned  Houston. Well, this has been on my bucket

list for a while and now I will be able to take if off because:

I AM GOING TO HOUSTON!!!! FOR INTERNATIONAL QUILT FESTIVAL!!

I know I am shouting but I am so excited. I am still in shock as well. My husband was

very kind and let me use up all of his Aeroplan points.  Hopefully, I will have tons of

pictures for you when I get back. All of this won’t be happening until the first week
