What Are You Working On Right Now?

I’m wondering what you are working on right now?

I’m just trying to stay cool, as it got pretty hot and humid here today.

Funny how the weather changes so much. Two weeks ago, we had snow!

Besides the weather, there is alot of  cuteness happening here. Take a look

for yourself.

Pat’s Quilt

Pat made this quilt from her grandson’s clothes when he was younger.

It was so much fun looking at the clothes as I was quilting around it.

Of course, the tractor had to get some rocks to keep busy.

The pj’s were so fun and soft. If you are planning on using T-shirts or

baby clothes in a quilt, make sure you use a stabilizer behind the blocks which

have baby clothes on them. Otherwise, the blocks can stretch like crazy!

You can use either a sew in stabilizer or a fusible one that you iron onto

the back of T-shirts and pj’s. I think the fusible stabilizer would be less fussy

to deal with.

These corduroy overalls were really thick and I could not quilt through all of these

layers. Something else to keep in mind when you tackle a project like this.

Pat did a great job, don’t get me wrong.

What a great way to use  the waist bands and labels on jeans and T-shirts.

Again, please be mindful of where you place things. There were several

zippers on this quilt too. I had to be careful stitching  around them as well.

The backing

Great choice, Pat!  The fabric on the back blends with the top perfectly.

Quilt #2

Pat also made this quilt for another grandson. Lucky boys! More cuteness to look at.

I love the T-shirts on this quilt. It reminds me of my boys, when they were growing up.

Look at these overalls. How can you not love these cuties? Again, I had to be careful

stitching around the clasps on the overalls. I had nightmares of knocking the timing

off of my machine. All went well, not to worry.

The backing of the second quilt. I used a clear monfilament thread for the

front of the two quilts and matched the backing thread to the color of the

backing fabric. I used alot of straight lines because it makes the quilt

more masculine, in my opinion.

BAby Quilt

It seems there is a theme this week: baby quilts. This quilt was made for a

grand daughter as well. It is very bright and cheerful. The song”You Are My

Sunshine” was quilted in the middle of the quilt.

The rest of the quilt received  smiling suns  all over it. A bright yellow

polyester thread was used for the front and back of the quilt.

You can see the words quilted onto the top.

The backing fabric is very cheerful as well.

Pat’s Quilt

Pat made this lovely Hexagon Quilt. The colors are very calming and relaxing.

The Quilt Design

Pat picked a very simple all over design for the quilt.

The backing

Sometimes, it’s hard to choose how big or small to make a quilting motif. Many

times I measure the size of the blocks or the border of the quilt and it helps me

to make sure the scale of the quilting pattern is correct.

Joan’s Quilt

Another grand daughter is receiving a quilt. Very lucky young lady indeed.

I really love this quilt. The fabrics are Japanese ;  I love the colors and the pattern.

The flowers that are stitched here  are one of my favorites right now. A soft tan thread color

was used on the front of the quilt and the backing.

The backing fabric is very beautiful as well.

Hoping that you are getting some projects finished up

before the hot weather gets here and all we do

is sweat it out. Have a great week and stay safe.
